Summary

The Warehouse Manager plays a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of our distribution operations. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of warehouse activities, from storage to distribution. This role is instrumental in managing import/export shipments and optimizing fill rates to ensure operational excellence while maintaining quality standards and fostering a safe working environment. This role requires a strong work ethic, ambition, and a dedication to working with passion and integrity.

Essential Functions

Management:

  • Supervise and lead a dynamic team engaged in receiving, storing, and shipping products or materials, ensuring optimal productivity and performance.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive warehouse safety and security programs to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Utilize metrics to measure performance and productivity, and design incentive systems to motivate and reward warehouse staff.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for all warehouse operations, including emergency protocols, to ensure efficient processes and compliance.
  • Collaborate with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities with other functions such as production, sales, and purchasing.
  • Conduct interviews, select top talent, and provide training and development opportunities for warehouse personnel.

Warehousing:

  • Establish and refine processes to guarantee shipping and inventory accuracy, including regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Regularly inspect warehouse facilities and equipment, and coordinate necessary maintenance, repairs, or replacements to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Analyze warehouse configuration and optimize high-velocity pick zones to align with customer demand patterns.

Shipping:

  • Develop strategic storage and distribution models and schedules considering warehouse and customer locations, as well as available transportation modes, to maximize efficiency and sustainability.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints related to storage and distribution services promptly and professionally.
  • Implement tracking systems to monitor goods in transit and expedite orders as needed to meet customer expectations.
  • Coordinate international freight logistics, negotiate service rates, and ensure compliance with customs regulations for timely release of shipments.
  • Evaluate freight and inventory costs associated with transit times to optimize cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • HS Diploma required, (AS or BS in Logistics, or related field preferred).
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience leading providing leadership in a warehouse/shipping environment.
  • Ability to inspire and lead diverse teams in warehouse and production settings, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record of identifying and resolving operational challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with ERP Software: Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Oracle JD Edwards, WMS Experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
  • Understanding of OSHA standards and experience implementing safety protocols.
  • Meticulous in inventory management and quality assurance to maintain high standards.
  • Ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments, adept at managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Capable of performing tasks requiring physical exertion.

Normal Work Hours

  • 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday (some nights and weekends may be required)
